Analogue brings back the Super Nt and Mega Sg as wireless 'Plus' models, with pre-orders opening Monday

Analogue is bringing back its two 16-bit consoles. The new Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ play original Super Nintendo/Super Famicom and Genesis/Mega Drive cartridges. Like the 2017 and 2018 originals, they run on an FPGA chip that recreates the original hardware instead of emulating it in software, and they output up to 1080p over HDMI.
Price and timing: Each console costs $219.99. Pre-orders open Monday, October 19 at 8 a.m. PDT (11 a.m. ET) on Analogue’s site, and both are listed as shipping in December 2026. The Super Nt+ comes in Classic, SF and Black versions. The Mega Sg+ comes in USA, EU and JP styles.
What’s new on both:
- Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless built in. A pairing button connects 8BitDo controllers, arcade sticks and other modern gamepads, so you don’t need a dongle. Original wired controllers still work and take priority when plugged in.
- USB-C power with a charger in the box, plus a USB-A port. Analogue says the USB-A port is only for its DAC (for connecting to CRTs) and for charging controllers, not for USB controllers or data.
- Hot-swappable cartridges. Quit the game from the menu and swap carts without turning the console off.
- Power on and off from the controller, plus startup actions such as booting straight into the cartridge.
- A redesigned shell and new packaging. Both consoles are still region-free and can switch between NTSC and PAL.
Mega Sg+ extras: It includes a Master System cartridge adapter and a Sega CD spacer, and it works with an original Sega CD or Mega CD you already own. Adapters for Game Gear, Mark III/SG-1000 and Sega My Card are sold separately.
What’s missing: Neither console comes with a built-in bonus game (the originals included Super Turrican Director’s Cut and Ultracore). Neither supports openFPGA, and they don’t have the save states or 4K modes of the Analogue 3D. Matching 8BitDo SN30 and M30 controllers cost $29.99 each.
PPR take: If you missed the original Super Nt or Mega Sg, this is the best chance in years to get one. Wireless controllers and hot-swapping fix the two things that bugged owners most. Analogue launches usually sell out fast, so set an alarm for 11 a.m. ET on Monday if you want one by Christmas.
