Crimson Desert is in the running for the big one. The 44th Golden Joystick Awards revealed its Ultimate Game of the Year shortlist today, and Pearl Abyss’s open-world action game made the cut, GamesRadar+ reports. That’s a nice turnaround after fans were upset it missed the Console Game of the Year list earlier this month. It was already up for PC Game of the Year and Best Soundtrack, and Inven Global notes it’s the only Korean game on the shortlist.

The 12 Ultimate Game of the Year nominees:

  • 007 First Light
  • Big Walk
  • CONTROL Resonant
  • Crimson Desert
  • Dispatch
  • Forza Horizon 6
  • Phantom Blade Zero
  • Pokémon Pokopia
  • PRAGMATA
  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • STAR WARS: Galactic Racer
  • The Blood of Dawnwalker

How to vote. Voting is open now and closes at 8 PM ET on Friday, October 30 (midnight GMT), per PC Gamer. Voting in every other category has already closed. TheGamer points out that 007 First Light and Big Walk lead the field with six nominations each.

The show. Actor Alix Wilton Regan, whose credits include Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Cyberpunk 2077 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, will host the ceremony on November 11 at the Troxy in London, streamed live on Twitch.

PPR take: Some fans are already grumbling that Phantom Blade Zero (out this week) and Star Wars: Galactic Racer made a fan-voted GOTY list before most people have played them. For Crimson Desert, a game that kept shipping big updates all year, this is a deserved nod, and its DLC drops on October 29, right before voting closes.
