The campaign gates are open. Official Call of Duty channels marked Friday, October 16 as Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access Day, and Activision’s own docs confirm digital pre-order holders can jump in now.

Per the official early-access announcement and Activision’s MW4 editions page:

  • Who gets in: Anyone who digitally pre-ordered or prepurchased the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2
  • What you get: Early access to the full Campaign starting October 16 (PT)
  • What waits: Full launch with multiplayer is still October 23; DMZ Early Access follows on October 20 (PT) for the same digital editions

Story setup (per Activision): You play as Private Park, a young South Korean soldier thrown into a North Korean invasion, while Captain Price runs an off-book revenge hunt that collides with the wider war. The pitch covers trench fighting in Korea, close-quarters work in New York, chases in Paris, SAS night raids in Mumbai, and city assaults to reclaim occupied ground.

Infinity Ward leads development, with Beenox on the PC experience and Digital Legends on the native Switch 2 build. Activision notes actual start times can slip by platform and time zone, and that online connectivity is required for the live modes once they unlock.

PPR take: A week of campaign-only access is the cleanest way to clear the story before the October 23 multiplayer crush — and before GTA VI swallows the calendar a month later. If you already prepurchased digitally, today is the day; physical editions do not get this early window.
