Dead Space invades Battlefield 6: the Convergence event and 16-player Marker Incursion PvE mode are live at Area 51

Something woke up under Area 51. Battlefield 6’s limited-time Dead Space: Convergence event went live today, October 20, and it runs through November 10 in both Battlefield 6 and the free-to-play REDSEC, per EA’s event guide. It’s playable on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The setup: Pax Armata forces digging through the vaults of Area 51 for new weapons tech find an ancient alien Marker. Anyone who gets too close slides into violent madness, and the spread threatens to become an extinction-level event. Area 51 is one of the two maps that arrived with Season 5: Siege of Vegas on October 13.
Marker Incursion is the headline mode, a new 16-player PvE experience. Squads push through corrupted ground against hordes of AI-controlled Marked Soldiers, troops who now treat their old allies as enemies and defend the Marker at any cost. Along the way you destroy Marker Shrines, smaller replicas that strengthen the Marker’s grip and pull in more resistance, before making a final push to stop the Convergence. The deeper you go, the harder it gets.
No Dead Space crossover would be complete without the DS-23 Pulse Rifle, and it makes its Battlefield debut as a Battle Pickup inside the mode. Gamerable notes the event shipped with Update 2.1.1.0.
Free rewards from event challenges include:
- The “Aegis VII” soldier skin, modeled on the series’ industrial engineering suits
- The “RIG-Certified” SMG weapon package
- Two weapon stickers, soldier patches and a player card background
EA is also selling two Dead Space-themed store bundles, and it says hidden transmissions and environmental storytelling are scattered through the event for longtime fans to find.
PPR take: A co-op horde mode with the Pulse Rifle is a smart Halloween hook, and 16 players is a big enough squad to make the Marker feel like a real raid. You’ve got three weeks to grind out the Aegis VII skin before it’s gone on November 10.
