Happy Fallout Day. October 23 is the day the bombs fell in Fallout’s timeline, and Bethesda closed out its week of celebrations with two pieces of news.

Fallout Shelter: The Experiment has a date. Prime Video’s unscripted competition series premieres January 13, 2027, with the first four episodes at once and the remaining three weekly through January 27, per GamesRadar+ and the official Fallout on Prime account. Contestants face drills, psychological dilemmas and “morally challenging behavior trials” in Vault-Tec shelters, and the last dweller standing wins $1,000,000. It comes from Studio Lambert, the producers of The Traitors and Squid Game: The Challenge, with Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Todd Howard as executive producers.

Fallout 76 tops 25 million players. Bethesda Game Studios thanked players for the milestone, which it revealed in its World Pets update video. As VGChartz notes, that’s up from 23 million in June 2025. KitGuru points out that players aren’t the same as sales, since the game has been on Game Pass and PlayStation Plus. World Pets arrives December 1 and lets you take cats, dogs, radhogs and even deathclaws out of your C.A.M.P. as companions you can name, customize and level up.

Bethesda also confirmed that next year’s Fallout Day, for the series’ 30th anniversary, will be a live, in-person celebration in Washington, D.C.

PPR take: No Fallout 3 or New Vegas remaster dates this year, but 25 million players for a game that launched as rough as 76 did is a real comeback story.
