See-through is back. Sony announced the Prism Collection on PlayStation.Blog yesterday, a line of transparent DualSense wireless controllers and matching PS5 console covers in three colors: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. As The Verge notes, Sony pitches it as a modern take on the see-through gadget trend of the late ‘90s.

What you’re looking at. According to Sony’s Color, Material, and Finish design team, the high-gloss clear finish runs across the back of the controller so you can see some of the tech inside, with a metallic finish on the middle cover tying it together. Each color gets a glossy sheen.

Price and dates. The controllers are $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99 and the console covers are $74.99 / €74.99 / £64.99. The collection launches starting February 4, 2027, and Sony says exact dates and availability may vary by region.

Pre-orders. Pre-orders open November 10, 2026 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET in the US through direct.playstation.com and participating retailers. In the UK and several European countries, pre-orders open at 10 a.m. local time the same day. The console covers are sold exclusively direct from PlayStation where that’s available (the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal and Italy), and in limited quantities through select retailers elsewhere.

PPR take: I’m a sucker for clear plastic, and these look sharp. Set a reminder for November 10 if you want a matching cover, since those are mostly a PlayStation Direct thing.
