Katana Zero's long-promised DLC is still coming, and it's now "the size of a full sequel"

Still coming. Now a lot bigger. Katana Zero creator Justin Stander of Askiisoft posted an update on the game’s long-running DLC this week: “I’m still working hard on the Katana ZERO DLC. We made it bigger. It’s the size of a full sequel, plus a soundtrack of over 30+ new songs. More updates to come.”

That’s all he shared. There’s no release date, no new footage beyond a short clip, and Gematsu notes it’s unclear whether the DLC will still be free. The last update was an April 2025 teaser that promised it was “Still coming. Still free.” Some fans replying to the new post are now asking Askiisoft to just charge for it.

Katana Zero, the slow-mo, one-hit-kill samurai action game published by Devolver Digital, came out in 2019 and is on PC, Switch and Xbox One. The DLC was first announced years ago and has kept growing ever since, which is why GameSpot compares it to the long wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong.

PPR take: A sequel-sized expansion with 30 new tracks is a great problem to have, since the soundtrack was half the magic. A date would be nice, but Silksong showed the wait can be worth it.
