Nyx I isn’t going to be empty. CIG’s Star Citizen Monthly Report for October 2026 went up on Wednesday evening, and the biggest line in it comes from the Mission Design team: “300+ contracts will come for Nyx I.” The team calls it “the highest number of missions built for a singular release in the smallest amount of time,” and says it built more missions than it did for the first Pyro release in 15% of the timeframe. CIG credits its Modular Mission Approach and other tools for that.

That lands one day after CIG renamed Alpha 4.11 to Alpha 5.0, with Genesis tech and Nyx I leading the way. The report fills in some of what’s behind that. Mission Design says Contract Boards are meant to keep players “moving around locations without having to use quantum travel.” Core Gameplay added polish to the boards too: rank and faction icons, labels for new, accepted and unavailable contracts, and sorting by required rank. For Starchitect missions, contract generation is now about 15x faster, and ships at mission locations can be crewed by the local faction. Narrative also says it added more personal contracts on Nyx I, with descriptions that don’t follow the usual guild style.

The Merchantman is moving again

This one surprised me. After “many months of discussion,” two artists were assigned to the Banu Merchantman to help restart development. The ship was paused in a mix of whitebox interior and greybox exterior, and the team will now look over the whole ship as it plans changes to support the latest design of Player Trading. No release window was given.

Liberator and Galaxy hit final reviews

In the UK, the Anvil Liberator had its final review “in preparation for release at IAE.” The RSI Galaxy had its final review too, and it’s getting an updated RSI-branded UI for its control panels that CIG says will start showing up on other ships soon. The report doesn’t give IAE dates or say which patch either ship lands in, so we’ll wait on that. Elsewhere, the Kraken is working through its LOD0 phase ahead of a gate review in mid-November, and a new unannounced vehicle entered production that’s meant to give solo players a progression option in an existing career without flying a big multi-crew ship alone.

PPR take: That 300+ number is the one I care about. Right now I usually log in, run a mission, and log out, because the loop gets old. Three hundred-plus contracts on a single planet, built with tools that let CIG crank them out this fast, is exactly the kind of thing that fixes that. It also backs up why they called it 5.0. This isn’t just new planet tech, it’s new planet tech with a LOT to do on it. The Merchantman news is a nice bonus for the Banu fans who’ve waited forever, and tying it to Player Trading tells me it’s being rebuilt for how the game actually works now, not how it was pitched years ago. And a solo-friendly progression ship? I’m all for that. Let them cook. 🚀
