Crimson Desert hotfix 2.04.02 fixes passive sea serpents, stuck ships and clingy spouses

Another one already. Pearl Abyss has posted Crimson Desert patch notes version 2.04.02, its second hotfix since Charting the Unknown launched and a follow-up to the 2.04.00 hotfix from Thursday night. Most of it targets the new ocean content. The full list of fixes is in Pearl Abyss’s official 2.04.02 patch notes, which are also posted on the game’s Steam community hub.
When this story went up, the patch was out on Steam (PC and Mac) and PlayStation, with Xbox, the Epic Games Store and the Mac App Store to follow. Update: Pearl Abyss’s notice now lists the patch as available on Xbox and the Epic Games Store too. Only the Mac App Store version is still in progress.
The ocean actually works now
The fixes that matter most are the ones that made the new sailing content feel broken. Sea serpents weren’t attacking you, certain ships stayed stationary, and crew members didn’t show up on certain ships. All three are fixed. Charting the Unknown is built around building your own ship and sailing the Great Ocean of Pywel, so a ship with no crew that won’t move, on a sea where the monsters ignore you, was a pretty big problem. Pirates teleporting when they fell into the water and the Leviakan freezing in certain situations are fixed as well.
Your spouse stays on dry land
The expansion also added romance and marriage, and it showed. Pearl Abyss fixed your spouse or comrade following you into the water and your spouse repeatedly behaving abnormally during combat.
AMD players can update their drivers
On PC, the fix for some graphics displaying incorrectly on AMD driver 26.10.1 is the important one. Pearl Abyss’s known issues notice had suggested rolling back to 26.8.1 or earlier until it was fixed.
The rest
The patch also fixes quest and challenge rewards not being granted, occasional crashes, management facility earnings climbing abnormally, waterfalls, Oongka turning invisible, a lantern bug underwater and a case where your character could catch fire and couldn’t board a ship. There’s one improvement too: entering an area that’s open for pioneering now pops a notification in the right-hand menu so you can start the mission directly.
PPR take: Two hotfixes in under a day says the ocean stuff got a real workout from players right away, and that Pearl Abyss is paying attention. Passive sea serpents and ships that won’t move go right to the heart of what people paid for in Charting the Unknown, so it’s good to see those fixed first. The AMD 26.10.1 fix is the big one for PC players who’d been told to roll back their driver, so grab it before your next voyage. And the reward bug fix is worth noting if a quest or challenge didn’t pay out. Check the known issues list before assuming it’s on your end.
