The Constellation Mk IV becomes a 'modern classic' with a gold standard rework, a free owner paint and a final warbond pack

The Connie everybody already owns just got a lot nicer. This morning the official Star Citizen account put the spotlight back on the Constellation Mk IV, saying RSI is “commemorating the Constellation Mk IV’s transition to modern classic with major updates across all four variants.” It points to the RSI Constellation Mk IV Celebration page, which first went up on October 9 alongside Alpha 4.10.2. While most of the talk this month has been about the new Mk V Centaurus, the Andromeda, Aquila, Taurus and Phoenix quietly got one of their biggest refits in years.
What RSI says changed. According to the Comm-Link (archived here), all four Mk IV variants got “improved bridge visibility, redesigned habitation areas, additional suit lockers and weapon racks, full component access and more,” and the Phoenix picked up extra luxury touches.
The details from the 4.10.2 patch, as summed up by The Impound and Starship Dealers:
- A clearer cockpit. The big struts where the nose glass meets the bridge are gone, the canopy was rebuilt, and the seats and displays now use RSI’s current-generation kit.
- A habitat you can actually live in. Three suit lockers, three weapon racks, personal storage, usable benches and working light controls.
- Physical components. Components are now physical objects with easier access in the engineering spaces.
- Better airlocks and lifts. Airlock controls moved to accessible panels inside and out, the cargo lift and front crew lift were reworked, and the Phoenix gains a side airlock.
- Turrets and the snub bay. Both turrets got displays and entry animations, and the snub bay and Merlin docking setup were reworked.
- Same jobs as before. None of this changes what each ship is for. The Andromeda is still the gunship, the Aquila the explorer, the Taurus the hauler and the Phoenix the luxury liner.
A free paint for owners. To thank the pilots who made the ship part of their story, RSI says every owner of a Mk IV variant gets a commemorative livery in classic blue and red. Past Constellation paints are also back on the store for a limited time, “including some standout originals,” per the Comm-Link.
Last call on the pledge store. RSI is selling the whole Mk IV series as a warbond pack with 10-year insurance, plus bonus RSI Venture armor, a backpack, t-shirt, hat and an Emerald paint. Warbond means it can’t be bought with store credit. The “modern classic” framing goes with the series stepping out of the pledge store; Starship Dealers says CIG confirmed that in its Behind the Ships video, and that RSI’s Discovery Month FAQ puts the end of that retirement window at January 27, 2027. As always, every ship can still be earned in game.
PPR take: It’s nice to see the old workhorse get real love instead of just being pushed aside for the Mk V. If you already own a Mk IV, there’s nothing to buy here: log in and check your hangar for the new paint, then go enjoy a bridge you can finally see out of.
