Night City gets new chrome this week. Right as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 went live on Netflix, CD PROJEKT RED announced the Edgerunners 2 Update, also called Update 2.5, for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s free, and it arrives Thursday, October 22 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. CDPR says the Nintendo Switch 2 version will “follow shortly.”

What’s in it, so far. CDPR is keeping most of it under wraps until tomorrow, but the Cyberpunk.net post promises cyberware customization, a new dual-wielding playstyle, “and more.” The press release adds that the update brings content inspired by the new anime “as well as a range of other new items and features.” The official teaser on X simply reads ”// NEW UPDATE INCOMING… [v.2.5][22.10.26],” and the key art shows V back to back with Weak Kingsley, one of the four leads of Edgerunners 2, holding off MaxTac on top of a wrecked Delamain cab.

When you’ll get the full picture. A special REDstreams episode goes live Wednesday, October 21 at 5 PM CEST (11 AM Eastern, 8 AM Pacific) on Twitch, YouTube and Steam, and CDPR says the official patch notes go up the same day (X announcement).

Why it matters. As Famitsu points out, this is the first Cyberpunk 2077 update with real new content since Update 2.3 in July 2025, after a stretch of smaller fixes and a PS5 Pro patch. It’s also CDPR repeating a move that worked: the first Edgerunners anime came with a free update full of gear and gigs. GamesRadar+ expects new gigs or at least character cosmetics this time too, but CDPR hasn’t confirmed either.

PPR take: Dual-wielding is the headline for us, since akimbo pistols in a game with Sandevistan time-slows could get silly fast. If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to go back to Night City, binge the ten episodes tonight, catch REDstreams Wednesday and then jack in Thursday. We’ll update you once the patch notes are out.
