Star Citizen Alpha 4.11 will refresh freight elevator item claims while ship loadout recovery waits, and NVIDIA's new driver fixes the Vulkan crash

Lost your gear? Help is coming in pieces. Community manager Nicou-CIG answered a few long-running backer questions on Spectrum yesterday, and the most useful one is about getting your stuff back. We already noted in our Roadmap Roundup story that the Item Recovery: Ship Loadout Improvements card would be revisited in the next Roadmap Update. The new part is what Alpha 4.11 gets in the meantime.
Ship loadout recovery needs more time
In an Ask The Devs reply, Nicou-CIG wrote: “This card will be updated with the next Roadmap Update, as we need more time to work on ship loadout changes, expedite fees, and timed claims.” So the bigger fix, getting a ship back with its loadout, isn’t ready yet, and there’s no date for it.
Alpha 4.11 refreshes freight elevator claims
What we do get is smaller but useful. From the same reply: “In the meantime, Alpha 4.11 will introduce a refreshed UI for the existing freight elevator claim system, improving its presentation and clarity while making it more intuitive to recover individual items.” That’s a UI refresh of the system we already have, not a new recovery system, but it targets pulling back individual items.
The Professions episode isn’t cancelled
Backers had been asking why this week’s 10 From the Community is about technology when CIG took questions on professions. Nicou-CIG replied that the team “ended up gathering 20 questions from the Professions thread” and that “a Professions-focused 10 From The Community episode is still planned.” The FPS Gameplay question thread is open now too. The technology episode with CIG’s Technical Directors is due today, as we covered in this week’s schedule, and Open Hangar’s calendar still lists it for Friday.
NVIDIA fixed the Vulkan crash
GeForce Game Ready driver 621.01, out October 21, lists “Star Citizen: Resolves a crash that may be seen when using Vulkan API [6680590]” under fixed gaming bugs, per DSOGaming’s copy of the release notes and NVIDIA’s driver page. Open Hangar had been tracking a Vulkan crash to desktop on NVIDIA 616.56, with rolling back the driver or switching to DirectX 11 as the workaround.
Still unknown: CIG hasn’t said when the ship loadout, expedite fee and timed claim changes will land, and there’s no date for the Professions episode.
PPR take: A cleaner freight elevator screen won’t fix losing a whole loadout, and I’m not gonna pretend it will. But anything that makes pulling out one helmet or one rifle less of a fight is welcome, and I’d rather CIG say “we need more time” than ship timed claims and expedite fees half-baked. That card has been sitting there a while, so I’ll be watching the next Roadmap Update to see where it lands. If Vulkan has been crashing you to desktop, update to 621.01 before you head back out for the Day of the Vara grind. That one’s an easy win.
